As an advocate to the law enforcement community, and in its
mission to reduce crime, the
Broward County Crime Commission supports the major elements of the criminal
justice system and works in cooperation
with all Broward County municipal police departments, the Broward Sheriff’s
Office (BSO), the State Attorney’s Office (SAO), the Florida Department of Law
Enforcement (FDLE), the Attorney General’s Office (AG) and other local, state
and federal law enforcement agencies and regulatory bodies.
its role as a Crime Commission, the Broward County Crime Commission acts as a
facilitator between the citizens of Broward County, the business community, and
the Criminal Justice System to help facilitate and address public safety issues
The Commission was designed to gather information,
bring those facts to the public’s attention and then refer the findings to the appropriate
law enforcement agencies.
Finally, the Crime Commission makes
recommendations to the Governor and other Federal and State Legislature bodies for
potential improvements in laws associated with public safety that can better
help law enforcement and better protect the citizens of Broward County.
