In its role as an independent fact – finding
agency, as it deems necessary, the Broward County Crime Commission will conduct
due – diligence, investigative probes, regarding issues that could be
considered potentially criminal to the community.
In
order to protect the sanctity and safety of the community, the Broward County
Crime Commission, through a cadre of professional attorneys, special investigative
agents, accountants, financial specialists, industry professionals, and support
and administrative personnel, will conduct investigative inquiries if the Crime
Commission has reason to believe something could be potentially criminal and
harmful to society.
While the Crime Commission does not possess
arresting capabilities, or prosecutorial functions, it will research,
investigate, gather intelligence, ascertain information, and compile all
relevant data and evidence. Thereafter,
the Crime Commission will comprehensively present any crucial findings to the
appropriate regulatory body for that particular law enforcement authority’s
purview. This includes, but is not
limited to: local community police agencies, the Broward County Sheriff’s
Office, the Broward Prosecutor’s Office, the Florida Department of Law
Enforcement (FDLE), the Attorney General’s Office (AG) and the Federal Bureau
of Investigation (FBI).
