Legislative Issues

When the Broward County Crime Commission was founded in 1976, one of the main initiatives of the organization was to be proactive with local, state and federal legislators. This was to ensure Broward County Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Members had everything at their disposal to professionally and efficiently conduct their jobs to the best of their ability in order to protect the citizens of Broward County.

The Crime Commission has consistently maintained a strong presence in the applicable legislative capitals by meeting legislators personally, testifying on various issues, or conducting White Paper Research reports.  

The Crime Commission assesses what legislation is being proposed that could either benefit the Criminal Justice System or adversely affect the Criminal Justice System, where the trickle down effect could negatively impact the citizens of Broward County.

As a convenience to the law enforcement community, The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) has prepared summaries of bills that have been passed by the legislature. The link below shows all reports since 1998:
